Itinerary - Day 1

Fly into the town of Uyuni where our team will meet you at the airport.

Join us on our 4WD vehicle(s) for a short drive to the nearby train cemetery. Later, visit the village of Colchani and its colorful market as well as a salt processing plant (optional). Right after, enter the stunning Uyuni Salt Flats where we will spend the rest of the day. Practice your best photography skills with the aid of our team and be awed by a picnic-style lunch as well as sunset experience in the salt flats. Retreat to your unique accommodation tonight.

Itinerary - Day 2

Experience a second day visiting the highlights of Salar de Uyuni, including the famous Dakar monument and the first-ever salt hotel. If conditions allow, we will get to experience the otherworldly “mirror effect” (rainy season, Jan-Apr) and more opportunities for amazing photography. During the dry season (May-Nov) get to walk among giant cacti while enjoying awe-inspiring views of the Salar at Isla Incahuasi. Bid farewell to the Salar and let us drop you off safely at your accommodation or other location in the city of Uyuni.

FAQs

1. When is the best time of the year for this tour?

Any time of the year, really. If the main goal is to visit more sites within the Salt Flats such as Incahuasi Island, then the dry season (May to November) is better. If the “mirror effect” is the main goal, then the rainy season is best (January to April). So, it can be visited any month of the year depending on your goal.

2. What type of vehicles are used?

4WD Toyota Land Cruiser, Lexus and/or Nissan Patrol

3. Are pick up and drop off included?

Yes

4. Does this tour include the colored lagoons such as Laguna Colorada?

It does not. You would need more days as in our 4-day tour

5. Is wildlife seen during this tour?

Some wild vicuña may be seen on the side of the road on the way to the salt flats, but it is not guaranteed and is not the focus of this trip

6. Is vegetarian or vegan food available?

Yes

7. What type of accommodation is used?

Standard (basic) lodges with private rooms/bathrooms or Plus (best hotels) which uses the best available accommodation including the famous salt hotel

8. Is an English-speaking guide included?

Yes, if required.

9. What about other languages?

Let us know which language is required and we will advise (most major languages are no problem)

10. Are flights to/from Uyuni included?

They can be. Just ask and we will quote the best available price (most flights depart and return from/to La Paz).
